The form supporting the vessel suggests an elevated altar, referencing the majesty of life and survival.

My stone sculptures were carved during the summer series of Stone Sculpture Symposiums that were held annually at Western Springs, Auckland between 1985 and 1990.

Hinuera is a volcanic stone that hardens once exposed to light and heat. The entire base of the work, Hinuera Durer was carved by hand, the Vessel, Hinuera Statuary was carved using power tools.

Dimensions: Height 2800mm. x Width 600mm.

Material: Hinuera stone and gold leaf. Composition of stone is 90% silica.
